What dangers will trekking in rainy season face? (Part 1)

Trekking is an opportunity to train yourself, improve your health and explore nature. But this activity also contains risks. Especially when going trekking in the rainy season.

1. Risks encountered when trekking in the rainy season

Rain causes flash floods and landslides. And surely everyone knows well the dangers. It can be said that this is not the right time to go trekking.

Flash floods

Flash flooding usually occurs when heavy rains are upstream. Although it is a short time, large amounts of water are poured into the currents. Mountain currents often have steep slopes. Creating conditions for flash floods. They can roll more branches, soil and rocks, making the flow “destroy” everything on the way.

Landslide

Landslides are often caused by prolonged heavy rains and deep water penetration into the soil. Causes the bonding of the soil to be broken. The soil masses on the hillside are not strong enough. And landslides off mountain/hill, leading to landslide.

Usually, prolonged drought before the rainy season makes the ground more dry and cracked, and landslides are more likely to occur. Severe weather during rainy season trekking

When trekking, you will have to climb a pass to wade a stream or cross the forest. Hence, an insect such as a squeeze, a spider or a snake bite can be dangerous. In the rainy season, humid weather is the condition for these types to multiply and thrive.

Therefore, to go trekking in the rainy season, you need to wear tight, tighten your legs without any “gap” for them to attack.

Also, remember to bring disinfectants, insect sprays and other medications. If you are accidentally poisoned, try to find the nearest local homestay for help.

In the rainy season, the temperature in the forest is often low. Especially at night, the body temperature decreases, making you more susceptible to colds.
